Newsletter: 19-2011

We are in the last week of term and I am sure that our learners are looking forward to the June holidays. I trust that all their efforts and hard work this past term will be rewarded with a good report. Our expectation is that all learners work consistently throughout the term as this will ensure a good result. Should your child not have lived up to your expectations, please put in place the necessary support structures to encourage an improved performance for the remainder of the year. In your meeting with the class teacher this week, discuss possible ways that you can assist your child to achieve their best potential going forward.

Mr Alfred Msondo Retiring
One of our casual support staff workers will be finishing off with us at the end of this term. We want to thank Alfred for his contribution to Rondebosch East Primary School over the years that he has been with us. We wish him well for the future and we trust that Rondebosch East Primary will always have a special place in his heart.

Please take not of the following:
Parent/ Teacher Conferences
Our parent/ teacher conferences start at 13h00 tomorrow. These meetings are important and every parent is expected to meet with your child’s class teacher. You have been allocated a ten minute slot. Please do arrive on time for these meetings so that you can get the benefit of a full discussion with the teacher. If you have not as yet been allocated a slot, please confirm this with your child’s teacher in the course of the day tomorrow.

Extra-mural Programme
There will be no extra-mural activities this week. All learners are dismissed at the end of the school day.

Collection of learners
Parents are reminded to collect your child/ren from school at the end of the school day. Please remember that you are responsible for the safety of your child outside of school hours. We have teachers on duty from 07h45 in the morning until 14h30 in the afternoon. Once learners are dismissed from the classroom or their extra-mural activity, they should be collected immediately since there is no supervision at this time. Even though we have a security to control access to the school after hours, he is not responsible for ensuring the safety and discipline of learners on the school grounds.

From time to time, there are learners waiting outside the school grounds for parents to collect them at 5pm in the evening. This is a great concern, because there are many negative elements out there that may seek to do harm to vulnerable children. I trust that you will help us in this regard by ensuring that your child is always safely picked up from school on time. Thank you!

Reports
Learners will receive their reports on Friday, 24 June 2011. The reports will be discussed with parents at the conference meetings tomorrow evening.
